Not only is international support for Bush’s wars fading, but “his” people are also starting to wake up and realize how little he cares about them. Let’s just hope that something other than Bush-y activity comes out of this.

Jan 26th, 2003Just read the piece you linked to. I think Jezer needs to cut back on the espresso. He writes, “In the United States, confidence in the Bush Administration is evaporating…” Strong word, “evaporating” is. I think the poll I saw last week showed a few points dip from two months go. Support will be right back up to were it was earlier after the State of the Union Address on Wednesday. But that?s really besides the point, isn?t it? Jezer treats the whole should-we-go-to-war analysis as a popularity contest, which is kind of offensive to thinking people. I mean, recall from history that even President Lincoln was in real danger of losing his bid for re-election during the American Civil War because the country had become weary of the fighting. I suppose if Jezer had been around then he would have written that ?reality is out-running Lincoln?s freedom rhetoric,? and that he?d best pack it in. Even good plans can be unpopular.
