Chinese Music Industry leading the world
Not only are the Chinese leaders in the movement for governmental use of open source software, but they are also miles ahead when it comes to music piracy. They have faced the reality that piracy cannot be eliminated. Instead of fighting pirates they have taken to only release songs to radio stations or only market [...]
LA takes firm stand against war
Late last week, the Los Angeles City Council passed a resoultion to oppose the war on Iraq. Not only did they listen to their people but also decided that they’d had enough of financially hard times. Events like this truly strengthen the peace movement even further.
Need help? Here’s some faith.
At a time when he’d rather spend billions to please his friends than aid his people, President-select Bush has a new idea on how to help the disadvantaged: (Christian) faith. And why would he not choose that particular method, after all, he’s been known to be fond of brain-washing type of methods to ensure people’s [...]
Congressional TIA PR
Although it seems that the US government now doesn’t want to use its Total Information Awareness technology against its citizens, exceptions to this will be granted with congressional approval. Seeing as congress these days is about as willing to object to the administration’s proposals as a slightly altered lemming, this isn’t much more than a [...]
Attack on Iraq to be launched before 3/14
According to a new BBC analysis, the March 15th convergence on the white house may come too late. The US and UK are pushing to go to war before March 14.
Don’t f*ck with me, buddy!
Turns out the US government will do everything it can to not only crush dissent at home but also abroad. There are now plans to “punish” Germany for standing up to the US administration on the Iraq issue by withdrawing troops and bases from Germany and ending other economic partnerships.
Beyond censorship
Looking at the history of military censorship of the press during war time one can see that ever since the Vietnam war, things have continually gotten worse for the US media and after the war in Afghanistan, one might wonder what comes after a near total information blackout. Now e have the answer: Integration. Groups [...]
The war for profits
While the war on Iraq is about oil to a large extent, it is even more just about making money. Several members of the US administration and especially their corporate friends have a lot of interest in a war due to the large post-war profits.
Pre-emptive anger
The attack on Iraq hasn’t even really started yet and already anti-US sentiments are on the rise abroad. Seeing as this issue has made it to the NYT, I would not be surprised if there has already been an increase in the size of terrorist movements. Way to go Bush!
Now who’s the violator?
An article from the Guardian from last year shows that the US government is also guilty of violating international resolutions by developing new kinds of weapons of mass destruction. A leader who mistreats his own people while developing new weapons going to war against a leader who mistreats his own people and may have WMDs, [...]
Ready, get set, panic!
As a part of their continued “war on terrorism”, the Bush administration last week introduced their new readiness campaign, which is delivered in forms like the ready.gov website. The only prepardeness people will get out of this is being ready to panic. I seriously doubt that any of those measures would be very effective in [...]
Reiligion has no place in the march to war
It seems that in some way even the archbishop of Cantebury agrees with me. I have stated in the past that I believe that religion has no place in politics as the state and church are meant to be kept seperate. Now, the archbishop, as covered by Body and Soul, has asked Bush and Blair [...]
SEVIS’ inadequacy
After being stuck in development for years, the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System was activated after 9/11 and now academic instituations across the nations have started their jobs as “government watchdogs“. What a way to waste money. Instead of reshaping their foreign policy to reduce anti-American sentiments abroad, the US government aims to terminate [...]
A dictator for Iraq
It looks as though the US government doesn’t want to start a democracy in Iraq anymore, now it’s merely US military rule.
Lapdog to close to the trapdoor
According to this news analysis from the NYT, Tony Blair’s career may be in danger as long as he is pleased in his role as Bush’s lapdog.
The Global F15 Rally in the Corporate Media
While last week’s ultra large rally was mainly covered by the alternative media, the corporate media had something to say as well: From New York to Melbourne, Protest Against War on Iraq – An NYT article illustrating the underestimated crowd size phenomenon prevalent in corporate media. A New Power in the Streets – A news [...]
More on the global F15 rally
As the corporate media has been largely silent on many aspects of last week’s global peace rallies, such as the outright 1st amendement violation of the New York City authorities, here are some more articles: Report From New York – A first hand account of the New York City rally. Personal Voices: Dissent and a [...]
Rent increases for the poor
Once again, president-select Bush has proposed plans to force poor people, this time those who recieve federal housing aid, to fork over more money. His reasoning that this will encourage them to seek work is yet another example that Bush and people like him ave never lived those people’s lives.
Dissent discouraged
It appears that even in the UK, the sensitivity in regards to dissent has been increased. Now even Members of Parliament can be reprimanded.
Excessive defense budget aknowledged
It appears that even the New York Times has now realized that the US government is spending way too much on defense: “At next year’s projected level, Washington will be spending nearly as much on defense as the rest of the world combined.” “… all of that can be had for tens of billions of [...]
Preparations for war coming to an end
According to this report, the US army has already progressed far in and near Iraq. They have assumed positions from which they could easily and quickly seize large portions of the country. Like I have said many times: What the media is showing you is mostly an act. The war on Iraq, which has been [...]
In for peace? Here are some ideas!
Too often have I heard the question “Seeing as we’re gonna go to war anyways, what can we do?”. Well, Alternet has come up with a list of things every person can do to voice their opinion.
No WMDs in Iraq
In his most recent report, chief inspector Hans Blix revealed that the inspectors have yet to find any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and criticized Powell, who was seen sulking, for his shoddy evidence. The fact that some weapons are “unaccounted for” may simply stem from the fact that Iraq does in fact not [...]
Protests work
It would appear that even the governments of the USA and the UK cannot ignore the people‘s protest: “Rattled by an outpouring of anti-war sentiment, the United States and Britain began reworking a draft resolution Saturday to authorize force against Saddam Hussein.” MORE…
US media lying about anti-war movement, again
As the cities of the world are teeming with people protesting the upcoming war, the mass media are doing everything they can to make the protests look like failures.
Conservatives split on Iraq issue
A recent Washington Times article reported that not even Bush’s own are united behind him. Some of them too argue that a pre-emtive attack against Iraq is the wrong way to introduce the country to democracy and that the US should stop playing the world’s policeman.
Sharon to be tried for war crimes
It seems that at long last, Ariel Sharon of Israel may be tried for the war crimes he comitted. I wonder how the US government will weigh in on this as he’s such a good ally.
Iraq and Al-Quaeda
According to a recent BBC article, Iraq and Al-Quaeda have less connections than past and present US politicians have had with Al Quaeda. This adds to the fabricated, false message the US administration is pouring into the sensory organs of the lemmings.
Do our job? Us?
The General Accounting Office recently gave up on its efforts to expose the administration’s dealings with the energy industry in 2001. Like I have said many times, certain government officials outside the administration may have the right idea, but whenever it gets hot, they run straight out of the kitchen.
Selective truths
It appears that the US and British governments will let no one and nothing interfere with their warmonger publicity, especially not their own intelligence agencies. Whenever MI6 and the CIA present new intelligence regarding Iraq (at present), it is censored to make it look like proof of Saddam Hussein’s alleged shady activities and when there [...]
Money? Oh yes! For advertising the truth? Oh no!
Viacom has refused to run one of moveon.org‘s ads on billboards and public transportation vehicles in three major markets claiming they don’t support these kinds of organizations. Yet another example of the media being more interested in monetary interests than the truth. (Thanks to Tom Tomorrow for the link.)
Terror alerts fabricated
It has emerged that both the December 2002 and the more recent terror alerts were fabricated. This new development confirms my theories that terror alerts are fabricated in order to cover for mostly illegitimate actions carried out by the US administration.
The real reasons behind Bush’s “green” proposal
In an article in the New York Times last week, the real reason for Bush’s support of hydrogen fuel emerged: His sponsors, the fossil fuel and nuclear power industries, the very reasons for why he goes to war all the time. This discovery makes it a lot clearer as to why Bush is so much [...]
Real news from Iraq
Jeremy Schill, an independent journalist, has been filing reports from Iraq on a regular basis of late. In one of them he writes about the report on Iraq the US government has ignored, the one dealing with child mortality. Ever since their nuclear attack 12+ years ago, child mortality and cancer rates have risen. In [...]
Protests work
Despite the general mood that protests will not accomplish much, a few people have proven otherwise. Amy Goodman from Pacifica radio is one of them. She recently appeared on CNN’s sound off twice on their warmongering topic program “CNN Showdown: Iraq”.
