Iraqi “self rule”

According to the BBC, the Iraqi National Council recently held its first meeting. While the mainstream media will see this as a “start of Iraq’s independence” it is nothing more than a joke, even worse than the supposedly democractic government of Afghanistan.

The majority of the members of the council have not lived in Iraq for years and were chosen by the US administration. That in itself already invalidates any claim of true representation of the Iraqi people. This would be all good and well if they were left to fight the opposition of the Iraqi People by themselves, but they naturally don’t have absolute power and well all know what “(US) officials say the council’s proposals will be rejected only in exceptional circumstances” looks like in practise.

As for all those who still refuse to believe that Iraq is now something akin to an American colony:

“(The Council’s) first decision was to declare a national holiday on 9 April – the day US-led forces overthrew the old regime – and to scrap holidays and festivals linked to the formerly ruling Baath Party.”

Seeing as it is widely known that the US government installed Saddam Hussein 40 years ago, it is once again time to ask how the majority of the American People can let this blatant imperialism continue. Because once the majority of US forces are permanently installed in our colonies abroad, the draft will be reinstated as there will be noone else left to defend the homeland. So much for “homeland security”…
