Verisign halts wildcard service

After being threatened with legal measures by ICANN, Verisign, the main .net and .com domain name registrar has shut down its domain wildcard service which provided a deafult page for every unregistered domain name as the service had wide ranging effects on the Internet.

It is most definitely good to see that the ICANN has taken an ant-monolpy stance and moved to preserve the equal status of all registrars that it set up a few years ago. Verisign should definitely not be allowed to attempt to regain their monopoly position.
