New episode in prescription drug war

For many years, various governments below the federal level have made attepts to escape the pharmaceutical industry’s iron grip on astronomically high prices (see this PBS Frontline documentary for more details).

In the newest episode of the ongoing fight, the city of Boston and the state of New Hampshire have decided to buy prescription drugs from Canada in large quantities which will go to government employees and seniors. The federal government was of course quick to point out how “unsafe” that would be. But one can only hope that this will become the first step towards more affordable drugs for everyone and not just the few that have access to them.
