Rollup
Through a short trail of linked blogs I discovered rollup.org which lets you create your own rollup, a page composed of rss feeds of your choice. The ZU rollup is here. The main downside is of course that rollup.org places google ads on your page and that they don’t give you much control over the [...]
Movement for stronger definition of marriage gains momentum
As expected in past few weeks, ultraliberals have shot themselves in the foot by defying state laws and pressing ahead with their refusal to accept marriage for what it is. President Bush yesterday publically voiced his support for a federal constitutional amendement that would once and for all refine the definition of marriage for everyone. [...]
Kerry wins again
Sen. John Kerry yesterday won yet another set of primaries. His victories in Idaho, Utah and Hawaii have solidified his lead over all remaining candidates. Last night’s surprise was Dennis Kucinich’s second place score in Hawaii. Despite the state’s progressive majority, it is still quite an achievement considering his standing to date.
Ralph Nader to run for President
Ralph Nader, one of the most prominent consumer right advocates, announced this morning on NBC’s Meet The Press that he will once again be running for President. Since the Green Party still has to decide whether they will field a candidate or not, he has decided to run as an independent. CNN has been quick [...]
End of the road for Dean
After switching back and forth on the topic, Howard Dean has now announced that he has decided to quit the race for President. All is not lost however as he talked of plans to retain the grassroots network he built to support his campaign and use it for other ways to help the Democratic party. [...]
Kerry’s homerun continues
Sen. John kerry won again tonight, recieving 39% of votes in the Wisconsin primary, only 4% more than runner up John Edwards. Tonight’s odd fact is that Wisconsin voters still voted for Wesley Clark even though he is not in the race anymore. If Wisconsin does have something along the lines of write-in candidates in [...]
Court upholds legality of do not call list
The 10th US Curcuit Court of Appeals has reversed a lower court’s ruling that claimed that the federal do not call list violated a marketing company’s first amendement rights. I am very happy to see this and hope that the list remains legal. The marketing industry will undoubtebly complain as all they see is the [...]
Kerry wins DC and NV
Not surprisingly, Sen. John Kerry won today’s primaries in Nevada and the District of Columbia. At the same time, for some very odd an unexpected reason Rev. Sharpton came in second in DC. This will fortunately not make a difference however as Kerry’s lead with 555 pledged delegates would be very hard to beat at [...]
Clerk issues marriage licenses to same sex couples
San Francisco’s county clerk yesterday started issuing marriage licenses to same sex couples based on instructions by Mayor Newsom. While this action is a positive example of disobedience, it was committed in a very rash manner. The mayor clearly failed to consider all the effects of his action and on top of that acted without [...]
Kerry gains endorsement from Clark
Gen Wesley Clark yesterday endorsed Sen John Kerry after giving up on his own campaign. While this on one hand’s side may look like he endorsed Kerry because he will probably win, I believe it is more of an effort to ensure that should he ever try to run again he won’t have to deal [...]
Dean to remain in race
It seems that Howard Dean has changed his mind about the primaries. After recently announcing his decision to quit unless he won Wisconsin, he has now changed his mind and has promised to stay in the race for the long run.
Comcast wants Disney
It looks like more media conglomeration is on its way today as Comcast has announced its intentions to buy Disney. According to the New Zealand Herald / Reuters this would make Comcast the world’s largest media company.
“Vee are not amused!”
EMI records has served cease and decist orders to DJ Danger Mouse who recently released a remix album titled “Grey Album” which combined music from The Beatles’ White Album with Jay-Z raps. Looks like EMI just doesn’t have a sense of humor or desire to make more money with Beatles material (Beatles tracks have yet [...]
Janet to record song about her exposed breast
In a brilliant example of how money is made through cheap means, Janet Jackson will be recording a song about her breast incident at this year’s superbowl, the NME has revealed.
Further signs of impending bonesman contest
As of tonight, my prediction of Kerry winning the nomination has been backed up by at least one reputable mainstream source. Business Week editor Richard S. Dunham has written a news analysis that says just that, that unless a near-miracle happens, Kerry will get the nomination. According to the article, most other candidates are now [...]
President Bush has still not fully refuted deserter allegations
“On Sunday, President Bush pledged in the Oval Office to release any and all documents related to whether he fulfilled his Vietnam-era National Guard duty.1 And yesterday, the White House claimed the documents it released fulfilled that Oval Office pledge. However, just hours after that declaration, White House communications director Dan Bartlett “confirmed that Bush’s [...]
Video killed the Internet star
Howard Dean’s crash in the primaries has been a the subject of much debate as he seemed to be the strongest candidate before the start of the primaries. DeanTV has now linked to an article that reasons that the mass media may be to blame. It seems that media moguls may have severely disliked Dean’s [...]
Clark to exit race!
Gen. Wesley Clark will be announcing his exit from the primaries at 2pm according to CNN. This means that by this time in a week, the primaries might as well be broadcast only on premium cable as they will only be of entertainment value. The chances of Edwards defeating Kerry are very slim now that [...]
Kerry wins TN and VA
Not surprisingly, Sen. John Kerry has won another set of primaries, this time in Tenessee and Virginia. The surprise this time was Gen. Wesley Clark who beat Howard Dean in both states by clear margins. This does strongly point towards an “all or nothing” strategy for Wisconsin on Dean’s behalf. Even if he were to [...]
Kerry wins again
Sen. John Kerry once again won by a large margin in today’s primary races. In both Michigan and Washington he got nearly half of all the votes. The surprising result this time was Kucinich getting third place in Washington. Although that isn’t surprising considering the state’s large true left wing population, it was still good [...]
“Crackdown on broadcast indecency” ?!
As a result of many people and media editors getting their knickers in a twist over Janet’s boob, the FCC is apparently considering a “crackdown on broadcast indecency“. Now if this does not show the immense influence of neoconservatives on our media I don’t know what does. As it stands, the American airwaves are already [...]
Mass Supreme Court further legalizes procedure mistakenly labeled as “gay marriage”
In a ruling yesterday, Massachusetts’ state supreme judicial court ruled that the word marriage had to be given a new meaning in their state as it would otherwise be unconstitutional under the state’s constitution. For some irrational reason calling same sex unions by what they are, civil unions, was considered an inferior route to take. [...]
Dean next to leave?
In an e-mail to supporters last night, Howard Dean gave the first indication of his dropping out of the race. In the e-mail he stated that if he should not win the Wisconsin primary he will drop out as his chances would then be too small. Dean appears to be confident that he will win [...]
Lieberman to withdraw
While Kerry’s win tonight already is starting to sound like old news, there is some good news tonight: Sen. Lieberman has unofficially announced his withdrawal from the race. It seems that voters have woken up to the fact that he is the least liberal out of all the Democratic candidates and shown him the door. [...]
Kerry to win again
As in past weeks, CNN has again projected Sen. John Kerry to be the big winner in the Democratic primaries. The only exception this time is South Carolina where Sen. John Edwards is likely to win with a present lead of 15% over Kerry. At the risk of coming off as a pessimist here, I [...]
