The whole uproar about the torture of detainees in Iraq has, like so many other media events, obfuscated the truth.
It appears that the torture in Iraq was partially ordered by Defense Sectretary Donald Rumsfeld and a part of a larger new approach to “information extraction”.
This reminds me again that there is very little random behavior in the activities of the federal government and that most events can be explained in one way or another or at least reduced to fundamental truths.
