You’re not fooling anyone

After The Spectrum, UB‘s student newspaper decided to, for the third year in a row at least, to not publish their April Fools issue on April 1st, I sent them the following letter:

To the editor:

I would like to propose that a charitable donation of calendars be made to the Spectrum, as being denied more funding by its audience seems to have left it with no funds to keep track of time.
For the past few years, there has never been an April fools issue of the Spectrum published on April 1st. This might be somewhat understandable when April 1st falls on a day where an issue is in production, but not this year. The first time in years the Spectrum actually does have an April 1st issue, they miss the opportunity and continue to have their usual “our April fools day is not April 1st” issue.
Dear editors: As I write this, it is April 4th. April Fools’ day was on Friday. I’m sure someone will be more than happy to relieve you of your excess booze from last Thursday.
