If only this were an isolated case… Most colleges these days prefer smut and treason over serious scholarship. Liberal arts should not be a dirty word.

Hooray for the nanny state! Let them try enforce a complete smoking ban on their entire campus. Their PD will be so busy they won’t get to actual crimes anymore.
How about banning treason from campus?

“The haste and vehemence with which scores of Duke University professors publicly took sides against the students in this case is just one sign of how deep the moral dry rot goes, in even our most prestigious institutions.”
Outrageous? Yes, but not unusual. Universities are hotbeds of white self-hate, promotion of low brow values and endorsement of annihilation.

Students warned of Internet risks – Nation/Politics – insider.washingtontimes.com
More proof that college admissions standards are too low these days. If freshmen need to be lectured on topics like the “risks” of social networking then they should not be anywhere near an institution of higher education.
Townhall.com::College stupidity::By Walter E. Williams
The most effective measure to start reforms at colleges would be to tighten admissions processes so that inappropriate students are no longer able to attend colleges with good reputations. To this end, personal interviews should be mandated to weed out students who are unable to cope with common sense, grade standards should be raised and all racial discrimination against white people should be eliminated by closing down any “affirmative action” and “equal opportunity” programs and offices. With the resulting higher IQ and common sense level in students, traitorous time wasting faculty would quickly become a burden and be discarded by administrators. This way we would also have a lot more citizens available to do the jobs stolen by Mexicans and other vermin here illegally.

a thaumaturgical compendium » Blog Archive » DOPA, WTF
As comments are closed on his blog, I will respond to Prof. Halavais’ post on here.
While I can see how the censorship of social networking sites at schools could affect academic freedom of minors, I am surprised that I would see an anarchist / liberal come out in favor of parental responsibility. This aspect of the DOPA became necessary because too many parents nowadays expect the government to raise their children. If the parents won’t ask their representatives to help them, they’ll throw a fit if they fail to protect their children from danger.
This issue is like the prevalent liability waivers forced on fun loving people. Because too many liberals refuse to be responsible for themselves and their own failures, honest people and corporations have had to protect themselves against their stupidity.
A funny new hipocrisy this, yet perfectly in line with the usual fallacious arguments popular amongst liberals. They’ll love Darwin any time of day except when his thoeries could kill or harm them. I say remove the safeguards and let the dumb die.

“Most public schools are far from outstanding. America’s government schools have rigid one-size-fits-all rules that reward mediocrity.”
Right on. It’s time more people recognized that children do differ beyond their personal characteristics. Some are more able than others at learning, so to hinder the able and to hold the hands of the unable until they’re dead is simply unAmerican.
