“American Idol” final pits personality vs youth
Proving once again that American Idol is as much about looks and popularity as it’s about singing (if not even more so), voters yesterday voted off Melinda Doolittle who almost had the pre-emptive reservation of the top spot from the beginning of the season. There simply was no other contestant who could perform any song thrown at them with an equal amount of professionalism. Not that she won’t get a record contract anyways (even Kelly Pickler got one), but she was the best contestant, period. Either way the runner up will now go on to sell more records than Bo Bice has to date, so as always, nothing is certain until another fat lady sings.
